Hello dear reader!
Welcome to another issue of this newsletter. This week I is a look back at a week in Scotland at the beginning of October. To break up the text, I’ll include some photos from I took during the trip.
In this issue:
- Scotland
- Celebrating life
- Horse racing
At the start of October, I spent a week in Scotland with friends. We were there to celebrate a friend’s birthday and spent the week with her family, immersing ourselves in the country—from visiting the home of golf to tasting whisky at my favorite distillery, Talisker, among many other activities.
Of course, I took my camera along and snapped close to a thousand photos during the week. As you can imagine, editing took some time, but I’ve finally gone through all of them. Don’t worry, I’m not posting hundreds of photos today.

We started the trip going to St. Andrews, the home of golf and a beautiful town sitting on the east coast of Scotland. The weather was perfect for a walk along the beach, a wee bit of golf, and enjoying the sunset over fish and chips. It was a great way to start the week.

Monday was a bank holiday in Scotland, and it was also the last horse race of the season at Hamilton Park. We went to the races, and enjoyed a nice afternoon there. It was my first time seeing horse racing, and I was impressed. The speed they carry, and the effort they do, they are full athletes in their own right.

We spent Tuesday to Thursday at the Isle of Skye. I’d wanted to go to Sky for quite some time, and it was just a I’d imagined: an island exposed to all the elements, a place to feel nature directly, with heavy winds, rain, and beautiful landscapes from the sea and mountains.

The drive up there was spectacular by its own means. Passing through the Scottish Highlands, narrow roads within the forest, and crossing small villages.

On the weather front we weren’t that lucky—it was a wee bit rainy—but nothing that a good jacket and attitude couldn’t handle. I believe that experiencing the weather, even if it’s cold and wet, it’s part of what makes the outdoors so appealing. It adds an extra flavor to the experience.

The week wrapped up with birthday celebrations: dancing at a traditional Ceilidh, having haggis, drinking whisky, and spending time together. It was a great week with friends exploring Scotland, a beautiful country to which I always look forward to my next trip!
