Hello dear reader!
Welcome to another issue of this newsletter. This week, I’ll share some photos from my most recent photo walk. It’s a short newsletter in writing, focusing more on photos.
In this issue:
- Walking around Amsterdam
- Winter light
- Photographing with a friend
Last Saturday, I went out with my friend Parker to walk around Amsterdam. The goal: take photos, walk for some time, and enjoy the city together.
Walking with another photographer changes the rhythm. You’re not just in your own head, hunting for shots. You pause when they see something. You discuss the light, point out subjects to each other, talk about what’s working and what isn’t. Sometimes you both photograph the same scene. Sometimes you split off to capture different moments.

The conversations flow naturally—photography, life, projects, back to photography. We talked about our processes, what draws our eye, the technical side of things. It’s a different kind of creative practice. More collaborative, more social, but still deeply focused on the work.

We started walking from Amsterdam Central station towards Dam square. The first steps of the walk were to get used to the rhythm, to start noticing those small details we want to capture, and to get in the flow.

As we continued, we moved from Dam square towards Leidseplein. A nice stroll following the sun and shadows. It’s still winter with its characteristic low sun, casting shadows and adding an extra glow. The sun out during winter in The Netherlands means more people in the streets. An excellent combo.

Finally, we moved towards the Rijksmuseum, where we spent some time photographing in the cycle path that runs through it. My favorite cycle path in the country.

We put in our steps, shot some photos, and spent a good afternoon talking and photographing. There’s something energizing about sharing the creative process with someone who gets it. You return with photos, yes, but also with new perspectives, ideas, and that reminder that photography doesn’t have to be a solitary practice.
Looking forward to the next walk.
That’s it for today! If you enjoyed this issue, share it with a friend! Share it with the friend you’d want to organize a photo walk with. Take the camera, and go out!
