Hello dear reader!
Welcome to another issue of this newsletter. This week I want to share a space of silence and reflection.
This issue will be different. I won’t get into creative habits or tools. Today is more personal.
By now, you might have read or listened to the news of the killing of El Mencho, a drug cartel leader. Being from Guadalajara, the news felt close. And the aftermath, closer. Fortunately, all our families and friends are safe, and it seems that the city and the state are returning to daily life.
Today, this space is about silence. A place to think. To reflect on using photography and creativity for good. I think, unconsciously, I’m drawn toward street photography because I like people. I like to show how we are all similar and different.

When violence erupts, when people become statistics and headlines, photography reminds me that every person in the frame is someone’s family. Someone’s friend. This isn’t abstract.
Street photography, at its best, is an act of seeing people as fully human. That’s what matters right now.

There’s much to say, but some days it’s better to be quiet, to think, and to listen to others. These days have been like that. In the middle of so much shouting, information, and misinformation, it is good to stop, listen, think.
Here’s hoping for better days, and better futures.
Luis
